Project Details

While we have excellent medical resources to fight cancer, people living with cancer, and their loved ones, often find they need emotional, informational, practical support and more.

This is the critical gap Wellspring Calgary fills. We offer a comprehensive range of evidence-informed programs, resources and support for anyone living with any type of cancer, and their significant caregivers, at any point on their cancer journey. Our services are all offered free of charge and no referral is required.

In the 10 years we have been delivering services, Wellspring Calgary has come to be recognized as an important resource and vital partner for those facing cancer. The positive impact of our support is clear. At the end of 2016, we had over 4,200 registered members and received hundreds of testimonials.

As our population grows and ages, it is anticipated that more people will be living longer with and beyond cancer. According to projections and current cancer statistics, Wellspring Calgary cannot feasibly meet the increasing demand for cancer support services in Calgary.

The need is great. To meet the need, we have developed a five-year strategic plan that includes opening a second location, Randy O’Dell House, in south Calgary. It will serve residents of Calgary and southern Alberta.

The campaign has three priorities:
$6.2M - Randy O'Dell House (land, permits, building, furnishings, and technology to support delivery of programs throughout southern Alberta
$5.7M - Member Programs and Services Delivery
$1.0M - Sustainability: Enhancing our Endowment

As of July 2018, Wellspring has achieved $9.25M towards the goal, thanks to a generous and supportive community of people, foundations and companies. The Government of Alberta has invested $500,000 towards our project (though we receive no annual core funding from Government). We rely wholly on the community to ensure our resources and programs are offered to anyone with any type of cancer at any point on their journey - those diagnosed and their caregivers and families.

Achieving this goal will:
- Positively impact the daily lives of thousands of people living with cancer today and into the future.
- Bring programs and services to those impacted by cancer living in Calgary and across southern Alberta.
- Create sustainability by providing vital predictable revenue to support ongoing operations.

We cannot do this without you. Please join us and support the Campaign for Wellspring Calgary.
