Mission Statement
Sunaayy is dedicated towards providing basic education, health and nutritio to children between the ages 3 and 16 who are unable to receive its benefits elsewhere, by holding classes at a time convenient to them and their families. We strive to work as a team with parents, educators and children, to impart an understanding of the life-changing value of education and its integral place in a child's life. We inspire and motivate children to develop academically, socially and morally, with a healthy respect for oneself, others and the environment. Sunaayy provides a setting that makes learning fun, and also encourages children to become independent and confident.
About This Cause
Sunaayy empowers underprivileged children by providing nourishment, health, hygiene, and education through an outdoor childhood development program. This low cost initiative model bridges the gap left behind by government owned initiatives. Subsequently, the program helps children transition into the formal education system. We are largely a volunteer driven organization striving to engage and mobilize individuals and groups in creating a vibrant and socially informed community. Sunaayy learning centers provide a safe and nurturing environment where children have the opportunity to engage, learn, and play in a safe environment. Volunteers and teachers chaperone the children from their homes to Sunaayy centers everyday. The children are offered fresh, healthy and nutritious snacks and meals during the course of the day. Programs at Sunaayy support children in activities that focus on health, hygiene, social science, reading, math, arts & craft, recreational and educational field trips to name a few. While education of children is the main focus, the program has also developed and empowered an all-female team of teachers belonging to a similar background, giving them new identity and recognition within their community. Over the past 10 years, Sunaayy’s program has reached over 5000 underserved children in the community, helping them transition to formal schools or vocational careers.
