About This Cause
The Organic Centre-Working with people and nature for a more sustainable planet. The Organic Centre is a nationally active charity and environmental education hub based in Rossinver, Co. Leitrim, Ireland. Since 1995, we’ve been leading the way in promoting organic growing, sustainable living, and community well-being across Ireland. At the heart of our work is hands-on education — from certified horticulture training to weekend workshops, school tours, and public events. We deliver lifelong learning that connects people with nature, food, and the skills needed for climate resilience. Our organic plant nursery produces one of the widest selections of certified organic vegetable, herb, and flower seedlings in the country, available for sale to the public each season. This supports home and community growers and strengthens Ireland’s local food movement. Our extensive gardens yield over 2,000 kg of fresh organic produce annually, supplying our on-site Grass Roof Café and local cafes. These productive spaces are also a living classroom — demonstrating composting, seed saving, and low-impact growing methods. Our mature orchards produce abundant harvests of Irish apples every year, which we hand-press into our own bottled organic apple juice, a much-loved and fast-selling product. This not only reduces food miles but also celebrates seasonal, sustainable produce. We align closely with SDGs 2 (Zero Hunger), 3 (Good Health & Well-being), and 4 (Quality Education), and we work in active partnership with schools, NGOs, local groups, and international volunteers to make environmental education inclusive and far-reaching. From organic gardening courses to biodiversity events, from food sovereignty campaigns to community growing projects — everything we do is grounded in our mission: To promote and support organic growing and sustainable living.
