Mission Statement

Mission: We support the most vulnerable communities in their fight against discrimination, inequality, and poverty. We believe in people and their capacity to take action. Vision: A society in which all people advance with equality, dignity, freedom, and harmony with Nature. Values: Action, Humanism, Independence, Universality. Fundación Vicente Ferrer works with rural communities to promote sustainable development that guarantees the well-being of people and their environment. Its comprehensive development program addresses all areas — human, social, and economic — to ensure lasting changes that impact society as a whole. It focuses squarely on four major challenges: dignified childhood, health and well-being, equality, and climate action. Its development model aligns perfectly with the United Nations' global proposals for Sustainable Development Goals. The 2030 Agenda is a unique opportunity to build a better future for the next generations. The Fundación Vicente Ferrer was born in the south and is led by people who have experienced discrimination, inequality, and poverty. For over 50 years, we have worked tirelessly to improve the lives of the most disadvantaged communities in India. Based on our positive experience, we aspire to share our knowledge and learnings with others countries, especially with families and communities in situations of vulnerability. Our mission is universal. When it comes to the welfare of human beings, there are no borders. In addition to continuing our efforts to transform India's social and economic reality, we are embarking on a new chapter by expanding our project to other countries. This marks the beginning of our journey to reach more regions around the world where people are experiencing abandonment and isolation. We will support local communities that have long felt alone. It is time for them to transform resignation into hope and turn what they now perceive as survival into the seed of collective mobilization with a vision for the future. The Foundation will support them in this process by providing the necessary resources and strategy. We believe that committed people, solidarity, and the power of care are the most powerful resources for transforming the world around us. Growing inequalities and the state of our world make good deeds and care more necessary than ever.

About This Cause

Fundación Vicente Ferrer is an NGO that began its work in India in 1969 (Rural Development Trust, RDT), transforming the most impoverished areas in the south of the country in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Over the years, has solidified its commitment to building a fairer and more caring society where everyone has equal opportunities. The Foundation has begun to expand its work beyond India, being present in Nepal, Sri Lanka, Philippines and Mozambique, while continuing to broaden its horizons to multiply the impact of its model and support the most disadvantaged communities. In these countries, the Foundation partners with NGOs that have extensive experience in the field and share its vision and core values. It has also demonstrated its commitment in Spain, participating in the reconstruction after the hurricane in the Valencian Community in 2024. After dedicating more than five decades to rural communities in India, we are expanding our work to promote children's rights in South Asia. The Asian continent is facing emerging challenges, such as overpopulation and forced migration, which increasingly compromise the well-being and development of children. The negative consequences of these challenges are becoming increasingly. The situation of children in the South Asia region has reached a critical point. This plight must be addressed immediately. We aim to leverage our decades of experience working with children in India to develop solutions that will improve the living conditions of girls and boys in countries such as Nepal, the Philippines, and Sri Lanka. We will provide support to the most vulnerable children and their families. To improve the living conditions and future opportunities of children in South Asia, we are developing four lines of action: 1. Empowering through education. After years of efforts in India to educate the most vulnerable children, inspiring results have emerged: many children have succeeded in breaking the cycle of poverty. We will continue to work to ensure that all children have access to quality education. 2. Ensuring a safe environment for children. Our experience in India has shown us that children's well-being improves when they grow up in a safe and secure environment. Building on this experience, we will work to empower children and families by teaching them about children's rights and how to protect them. 3. Support for vulnerable families and provide stability to them. The poverty and lack of opportunities experienced by children are closely tied to their family circumstances. To address this issue, we will provide training and economic support to strengthen the family environment. 4. Special support for children with disabilities. Since our inception in India, we have recognized the unique vulnerability of children with disabilities. With this in mind, we will continue our work in South Asia to ensure the necessary rehabilitation to these children, helping them overcome the barriers that accentuate their vulnerability. In Mozambique, the Foundation is working to reduce the transmission of HIV/AIDS, particularly among girls, adolescents, and pregnant women. The country has the second highest number of HIV/AIDS cases in the world. This is a major health and social challenge, and it is something that we must address. We started by partnering with Carmelo Hospital in Gaza Province, a public referral center that treats approximately 50,000 people annually. We also promote mobile health brigades that provide self-diagnosis kits and antiretroviral treatments to rural communities with limited access to healthcare.
