Mission Statement
The Family and Childcare Trust works to make the UK a better place for families. We achieve positive change through our parent-led programmes on the ground and our position as a sector leader on policy, research and advocacy on childcare and family issues.
About This Cause
Families who face disadvantage, social exclusion and poverty are at the heart of our work and we aim to make a difference to families' lives now and in the long term through our parent-led programmes, research and policy. Our parent-led programmes support families by increasing their access to services and supporting them to build social networks that other parents can take for granted. Their Parent Champions programme helps disadvantaged parents to access family and early year’s services and their Young Dads Collective employs young dads who raise awareness as experts by experience of the specific challenges young men face during their transition from young person to young parent. Our research provides definitive data on the issues families face across the country. Their annual Childcare Survey puts a spotlight on the eye-watering prices parents pay for childcare in the UK – more than double what families spend on food and drink. Bringing together what we learn from our research and their parent-led programmes, we campaign for solutions that parents want and need.
