Mission Statement

World Child Cancer's vision is a world where every child with cancer has equal access to treatment and care. Our mission is to improve diagnosis, treatment and support for children with cancer, and their families, in low and middle-income countries around the world.

About This Cause

Childhood cancer is highly curable. In high-income countries such as the UK, 86% of children who develop cancer survive. It is very different for children in low-income countries, where survival rates can be as low as 10%. We are working to improve diagnosis, treatment and support of children with cancer, and through our established programmes in countries including Malawi, Ghana, Cameroon, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Mexico are now reaching over 7,000 children with cancer each year. We work through partnerships between hospitals in the higher and lower income countries. These partnerships, together with staff training and mentoring, provide valuable expertise which builds the sustainable capacity and knowledge of doctors and nurses in-country. We provide holistic care for families, support treatment costs, provide ward equipment and fund essential staff posts. In order to affect long term change, we also deliver awareness-raising programmes and liaise with policy-makers at home and abroad.
