Mission Statement
Power2 believes there is no greater cost to society than unfulfilled potential. We unleash the power of children and young people to improve their lives and the lives of others through mutually beneficial relationships.
About This Cause
Our programmes are designed to develop crucial life skills, improve confidence and boost self-esteem through mentoring and positive psychology. We target young people at the margins of the education system or at key transition points so that they can maximise their learning experiences; looking beyond the problems they face, and towards their potential. We deliver evidence-based early-intervention programmes for young people, specifically targeting those identified by their teachers as from low income backgrounds, with wellbeing and behavioural issues, disengaged from school and learning and at risk of exclusion. We offer intensive/prolonged engagement to build positive relationships, develop trust and effect change before negative outcomes can occur. Our programmes: Teens and Toddlers Teens and Toddlers is delivered one morning or afternoon for 16 weeks and encourages young people to: 1. Become a mentor and role model to a child in a nursery, supporting their learning and development. 2. Take part in reflective group learning sessions which include specialised coaching to boost their self-confidence and raise aspirations. 3. Achieve a national qualification in Interpersonal Skills (NCFE Level 1). Power2 Rediscover Power2 Rediscover was developed as a direct response to the COVID-19 crisis and conversations we've had with young people, teachers, youth workers and carers about the impact the crisis has already had and will have in the future. The programme provides intensive one-to-one support to young people aged 11-18 who are struggling with wellbeing and school engagement, recognising that the pandemic has exacerbated these issues for the most vulnerable young people. Young people who take part in the programme receive ten 1:1 sessions, delivered by one of our trained facilitators. Sessions include conversations and practical tools to help young people with: Mental health and wellbeing including helping participants develop positive routines, healthy habits and sleeping patterns. Tackling feelings of loneliness and isolation by making sure young people know there is someone out there for them during lockdown and beyond. Practical and emotional support for engaging with school and learning Planning for the future by setting goals and aspirations for both the long and short term and, crucially, providing young people with the tools they need to actively work towards them Earning a certificate of achievement on completion of the programme.
