About This Cause
Rumi’s Cave is a community centre that is open to all and supports the local community. We opened our doors in 2011 in Kilburn, North West London and were initially volunteer led. We currently have three paid staff to oversee projects while still maintaining a large volunteer base. Our mission is “Connecting hearts, minds and communities”. We achieve this by offering a range of programmes and events to tackle issues such as social isolation, food poverty and mental health. We currently run a free community breakfast club during the week and a community lunch on Saturdays. Prior to lockdown we had movie nights, book clubs, IT classes for the elderly, a storytelling session for the elderly, an ethical clothes swap, a mental health conversation group and much more. Our centre gives local people the opportunity to meet in a safe space, interact with other people and create support networks.
