THE DEBORAH UBEE TRUST

Mission Statement

The Deborah Ubee Trust (DUT) provides trauma-informed, preventative and responsive mental health and wellbeing support to children and adults in Greenwich, Lewisham and Bexley. Our approach focuses on early intervention, person-centred care, and a commitment to reaching those who may struggle to access mental health services. We seek to provide support for everyone, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, and ability to pay.

About This Cause

DUT was established in 2011 in memory of Deborah Ubee, who lost her life to depression in 2008 after finding it difficult to access mental health services. We believe that nobody should be unable to access quality mental health support, which is why we offer free and low-cost services and provide clinical approaches for a variety of needs. Our service area covers some of London’s most marginalised communities, with Greenwich and Lewisham ranking among the 15% most deprived local authority areas in the country; adults in each borough report lower mental health scores compared to the England average, while prevalence of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) among children is also higher than the national average. We take a person-centred approach, building trust with individuals from deprived backgrounds and low-income families—those who may struggle to access help elsewhere. Services offered include: – Talking psychotherapy and counselling – Group sessions – Mental health training and coaching in local organisations – Play and art therapy – Dance and movement therapies – Courses on confidence, self-esteem, parent-child attachment, and other mental health and wellbeing topics
