Mission Statement
Mission: • To help people moving out of crisis to find balance, optimum health and to realise their potential. • To further develop a supportive community working with for smaller grassroots organisations that will benefit from our experience. Vision: • To draw on our expertise, gained through responding to the HIV crisis, to further develop and deliver our effective model of care: addressing the physical alongside the psychological. • To continue to widen our brief to include people facing other debilitating auto-immune conditions such as lupus, rheumatoid arthritis and multiple sclerosis. • To build further partnerships with organisations working in a complementary way to us. • To create a permanent and sustainable London centre that will bring many like-minded organisations together under one umbrella.
About This Cause
Who we are For over 30 years, Helios has worked extensively with the most marginalized and physically compromised members of the HIV+ and LGBT communities, addressing psychological issues including depression, loneliness, drug and alcohol dependency and the effects of trauma alongside physical issues such as organ decline, osteoporosis and peripheral neuropathy. We offer comprehensive holistic support through counselling, person-centred psychotherapy and life coaching (54%) alongside physical therapies including acupuncture, osteopathy and nutrition advice. Advocacy is an increasingly vital component of our service. Annually, we deliver some 6,500 1:1 sessions to over 550 clients from our Kings Cross premises with four therapy rooms and a larger group space for peer group sessions. We have a Londonwide client base, and use 38 paid therapists and over 30 volunteers.
