Mission Statement
In 1996, the Brian D. Silber Memorial Fund was founded to fund research on spinal cord tumors, to support clinical centers for spine tumor patients, and to educate physicians, patients, and families – through grants to major non-profit hospitals and medical research organizations. The Fund also provides assistance to patients and their families in dealing with the disease. The Fund is dedicated to the ultimate goal of finding a cure for spinal tumors.
About This Cause
The Brian D. Silber Memorial Fund supports spinal tumor research, clinical services, and educational programs. Through grants to Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), Brian’s Fund has been critical in establishing and supporting the Brian D. Silber Spine Tumor Clinic at MGH. This multidisciplinary clinic offers comprehensive evaluation and treatment options for patients with spinal tumors, conducts innovative research on the causes and treatments of spinal tumors, and provides far-reaching education through lectures and laboratory work. To date, over $2 million has been raised to support the Brian D Silber Spine Tumor Clinic at MGH. It is clear that the Brian D Silber Memorial Fund is making a difference in the lives of spinal tumor patients and their families.
