About This Cause
Impact San Antonio Foundation, Inc., (“Impact San Antonio” or “Impact”) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit women’s collective grant-‐making organization committed to expanding philanthropy in San Antonio by empowering women as both donors and decision-makers. Most individuals may never have the opportunity to give on a large scale, but together Impact San Antonio members significantly impact the San Antonio community. The concept is simple: recruit as many members as possible with each member donating $1,000 per year. 100% of that money is pooled in order to award High Impact Grants of $100,000 that fund specific projects of nonprofit agencies directly serving Bexar and contiguous counties. What makes Impact San Antonio unique is the "one Member, one vote" approach to selecting grant recipients. Annually, every member has the right to vote for the grant finalists whose projects they want to fund. The finalists receiving the most votes receive the High Impact Grants. Any remaining funds over and above the $100,000 High Impact Grants become Support Grants that are split between, and awarded to, the remaining finalist agencies. All contributions are awarded during a specific annual grant cycle. Impact San Antonio’s long-‐term goal is to attain and sustain (or exceed) a membership level of 500 individuals and to award grants in each of five focus areas: Arts & Culture; Education; Environment, Recreation & Preservation; Family; and Health & Wellness. Impact San Antonio is an all-volunteer organization committed to keeping expenses to a minimum. Operating expenses are covered by interest earned during the year on the combined membership amounts, additional member contributions, other donations, and sponsorships.
