About This Cause

Artists for Peace and Justice (APJ) is a registered charity in Canada and the U.S.A. that for over 15 years has supported access to education for impoverished Haitian youth to create a pathway to meaningful employment and a sustainable future. APJ has driven major impact in the Haitian community by donating over $33M, building the first-ever secondary school in Port-Au-Prince and continue to support more youth in achieving their high school diploma and pursuing a post-secondary education and/or employment. Prior to The Academy being built, children and youth had no opportunity to further their education beyond grade 6. After a catastrophic earthquake in 2010 changed Haitians lives forever, notable celebrities around the world joined forces to build the first ever high school. The school opened with 300 students aged 12-18 years and today 1,400 students are enrolled, and 180 teachers and staff are employed.
