Mission Statement
Our Mission is to provide unique interactive learning experiences for people of all ages and abilities to develop awareness, understanding, and respect for the cultural, historical, scientific, and ecological significance of the remarkable creatures with which we share our world in order to inspire a future of stewardship, understanding, appreciation and mutually beneficial cohabitation of our planet.
About This Cause
EcoVivarium offers out-of-the-box educational experiences in science, history, cultural studies, and language arts with help from our amazing Ambassador Animals. We have a strong focus in reaching out to underserved communities. EcoVivarium is home to approximately four hundred animals from three groups - reptiles, amphibians, and arthropods. Our animals are unique by their species, with ninety-eight percent being rescued, and the remaining two percent are donations of endangered or unusual species. EcoVivarium is home to several endangered species, including a Giant Galapagos Tortoise. We have rehabilitated and trained our animals to be Ambassadors for their species and the hidden worlds they represent. We work with students of all abilities and ages, teaching across the curriculum while encouraging students to enjoy STEM experiences. Visitors to the museum are encouraged to reach out to touch and hold Ambassador Animals with assistance from our professional staff. Visitors leave EcoVivarium with a greater understanding of the connections we share with these fascinating creatures and a better understanding of the vital roles they play in our cultures, history, and our very survival. We also seek to educate the general public on proper care for the special animals they acquire through adoption from us or purchase through other means. We stress pet ownership responsibility and life-long commitment to their animal companions and provide lifetime sanctuary to animals unsuitable for adoption or education. We are not funded by any government entities and depend solely on public donations for support.
