Mission Statement
The Hill Country Ride for AIDS is an annual cycling event in the beautiful hill country of Central Texas in which riders, volunteers, and donors provide life saving support for thousands of Central Texans affected by HIV/AIDS by raising money for nine local nonprofit organizations. The Hill Country Ride for AIDS is the most successful single-city AIDS ride in the nation and winner of the Austin Chronicle’s Best Bike Ride two years in a row! The Hill Country Ride for AIDS is more than just a charity bike ride; it’s also a community of kindness and support!
About This Cause
The Hill Country Ride for AIDS, celebrating its 25th Anniversary in 2024, is a Community of Kindness comprised of board members, staff and volunteer production team, and many, many other volunteers who have provided years of service to the Ride, and the nine local non-profit organizations which serve those affected by HIV/AIDS. Since our first day of registration in 1999, the HCRA has raised over 12 million dollars for our local charities to help them provide care and services to people in need. The funds raised by the HCRA stays in central Texas and though some of the names have changed, we have been supporting the same charities: Ashwell, allgo, Friends of David Powell Clinic, The CARE Program, Community Action Inc, OutYouth, Texas Health Action (aka The Kind Clinic), Project Transitions, and Vivent Health. These organizations use the funds on a wide range of services, from testing and prevention, creating safe spaces for BIPOC and queer youth, and helping to keep people on the brink of homelessness to get back on their feet. Our beneficiaries continually work to improve the lives of Central Texans and fight against HIV. Our local volunteers help us to keep costs down for our event, so that our funds can go straight to those people doing the work . This ride is a celebration of life that is meant for everyone. Volunteers help riders prepare for their 13, 27, 45 or 75 mile ride with training rides, bike 101 classes, and lots of fundraising events. We are here to help other Central Texans and we empower others to be a part of it. We’ve got 25 years of community that we are proud to invite others to join us.
