Mission Statement

We Help is dedicated to fighting hunger and homelessness in Long Beach and surrounding communities through our commitment to achieving nutritional equity for all. Founded in 2019 by Dr. and Mrs. Mansour as an expression of gratitude for the opportunities America provided them as immigrants from Egypt, We Help serves as their way of giving back to the country that supported their success. Our mission is to provide nutritious meals and comprehensive support to those most in need, utilizing efficient resource management and strong community partnerships. We focus primarily on vulnerable populations including children, seniors, individuals living below the poverty level, and the homeless, recognizing that access to proper nutrition is fundamental to health, development, and human dignity. Through our food pantry operations and strategic partnerships with African American churches in underserved neighborhoods, We Help creates a compassionate, supportive environment where every individual is valued and empowered. We believe that in a world of abundance, no person should go hungry, and we strive to transform this belief into reality through direct action. We Help operates on the principle that nutritional equity is a critical goal ensuring all individuals have access to the nutrients they need for optimal health, regardless of their socioeconomic status or geography. By addressing food insecurity, we contribute to better health outcomes, support children's cognitive development and educational success, and help build stronger, more unified communities. Our comprehensive services include weekly food distribution, preparation and delivery of hot meals to the homeless population, and coordination with partner churches to maximize our geographic reach and impact. Through efficient volunteer coordination and resource management, We Help delivers a $5 meal for a direct cost of only $0.20, demonstrating exceptional stewardship of donor investments. Since our founding, We Help has grown rapidly from serving 19,000 individuals annually to over 100,000 people in 2024, with projections to reach 120,000 by 2025. This growth reflects both the pressing need in our communities and our effectiveness in addressing food insecurity through collaborative partnerships and innovative distribution models. We aim to foster hope and restore dignity, one meal at a time, while building sustainable solutions that address both immediate hunger and long-term food security. Through community collaboration and unwavering compassion, We Help is dedicated to expanding these services, ensuring that no hand that reaches out to us leaves empty, and creating a future where every person has access to the comfort and dignity of a reliable food source.

About This Cause

ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW We Help is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2019 and dedicated to combating hunger and homelessness in Long Beach, California, and surrounding communities including Compton and Los Angeles. Our organization was established by Dr. Mansour Nosshi Mansour and Mrs. Yolanda Mansour, immigrants from Egypt who achieved remarkable success in America and founded We Help as their expression of gratitude to the country that provided them with opportunities for education and prosperity. FOUNDING STORY & VISION The Mansours immigrated to the United States in 1969, where they were welcomed with open arms and awarded government scholarships to pursue graduate studies. Dr. Mansour earned his doctorate in Mechanical Engineering from USC, while Mrs. Mansour graduated from UC Irvine. After building a successful technology company, Applied Utility Systems, Inc., with $40 million in annual revenue, they sold the business in 2006 and dedicated their retirement to giving back through We Help. Our vision centers on achieving "Nutritional Equity" - ensuring that all individuals have access to the nutrients they need for optimal health, regardless of their socioeconomic status, geography, or other barriers. We believe that in a world of abundance, no person should go hungry, and we work tirelessly to make this vision a reality. PROGRAMS & SERVICES Primary Food Distribution Program - "We F.E.E.D. First" Our flagship program operates through a comprehensive food pantry system serving the community twice weekly (Wednesdays and Saturdays) at our primary location at Christ the Good Shepherd Church in Long Beach. We distribute a variety of nutritious foods including fresh produce, dairy products, meat, bakery items, and prepared meals. Strategic Church Partnerships We have developed innovative partnerships with African American churches in underserved communities, recognizing these institutions as trusted community anchors. Our current partners include: - Garden of Praise Church (Compton) - First Corinthians Church (Los Angeles) - Willow Street Church (Long Beach) - The Lord's Church (Bellflower) - Crosswalk Church (Compton) - The Vineyard Church (Laguna Niguel) Each partner church operates monthly food distribution events, with some serving up to 6,000 individuals annually per location.
