Mission Statement
Northwest Florida Great Dane Rescue's mission is to help with the rehoming of displaced Great Danes along the Florida Panhandle. Based in Pensacola, Fla., NWFLGDR covers the I-10 corridor from Mobile, AL all the way to Jacksonville, Fla. and works to provide ongoing education regarding responsible Dane ownership and care. Our intent is to match every adoptable Dane with the best home possible, based first and foremost on the Danes’ needs. NWFLGDR consists of a group of volunteer fosters who donate their time and money to rescue Great Danes from animal controls, humane societies, ASPCAs, vets, and owners who must surrender their Dane due to hardship. NWFLGDR does not have a "shelter" location. We foster our Danes in our homes, get them back to health, evaluate and temperament test them, until we deem them adoptable into a permanent home. NWFLGDR is a registered non-profit with the state of Florida and a 501(c)3 charity. Donations are tax-deductible and always appreciated. We serve a large coverage area from Jacksonville, FL across the I-10 corridor west thru southern GA, along the Panhandle of Florida and the Gulf Coast of Alabama. We also infrequently pull from coastal Mississippi shelters, and even into Louisiana to New Orleans. All Danes are brought current on vaccines, spayed or neutered, micro-chipped, and fecal and heartworm tested prior to adoption. Any other medical needs are addressed, if possible, before adoption.
