Mission Statement
The group educates the citizens of Buchanan County Iowa and preserves artifacts and several buildings.
About This Cause
The Buchanan County Historical Society supports Buchanan County Genealogy and uses its donations to renovate and maintain two buildings: The Wapsipinicon Mill (1872) and the Daniel S. Lee Mansion (1867). We educate the people of the county about our history. Yearly we conduct a cemetery tour and an tour of the "underground city" of Independence, Iowa circa 1860's.
