Project Details

International Rescue Group's use is disaster relief to remote island and coastal communities, and your donations will directly reach people whose homes have been destroyed initially through emergency accommodation and relief supplies. IRG is, by policy, an unpaid volunteer organization (nobody, including the Board or executives, receive any pay). Your donation will leverage other donated supplies and will be used with maximum efficiency to aid survivors.

This storm (Typhoon Yutu, locally known as "Rosita") has made landfall in northern Luzon, Philippines at a coastal town called Dinapigue, Isabela, after devastating two Marianas islands, packing gusts of 210kph, winds that demolish houses and creates over 2 metres of storm surge on both east and west coasts. This comes on the heel of another typhoon just a month ago in the same location "Typhoon Mangkut" when 82 died. Latest news is that dozens have died in two landslides; one of the landslides occurred a hundred meters away from where we were standing when visiting Ground Zero.

45 families are still in an emergency evacuation center in Dinapigue and they have received little aid so far. IRG has purchased 50 strong tarpaulins for emergency roofing. PLEASE HELP US PAY FOR THAT - WE HAVE SHIPPED THE RAW MATERIALS TO THE TOWN and work is underway.

Captain Ray Thackeray, Executive Director of IRG, was already on standby in the Philippines and is just 200km from where the eye landed on shore, working with the UN OCHA team in Manila and putting together a response team
