Mission Statement
Laughing At My Nightmare is a 501(c)3 nonprofit with a mission to spread a message of positivity while providing equipment grants to those living with muscular dystrophy.
About This Cause
Individuals with muscular dystrophy are able to apply for adaptive and medical equipment from our No More Nightmares program. We award grants based on need, income, and available resources. We receive many applications in a year and do our best to accommodate as many as possible. Application from the Lehigh Valley and surrounding area take precedence. In 2017, we launched an extension of our No More Nightmares program to provide travel/lodging/meal assistance to individuals living with muscular dystrophy in order to alleviate the burden of traveling for medical treatments. This year is proving to be an exciting year in the muscular dystrophy world as multiple treatments have been approved for multiple forms of muscular dystrophy. This program is fully funded by the online sale of shirts that say “I love someone who is SMAzing!” (SMA being the type of muscular dystrophy our president, Shane, lives with.) We also promote a message of positivity with our motivational speaking program. This speaking program is entitled the Power of Positivity. Shane and Sarah (the co-founders of the organization) travel the country telling Shane’s heart-warming and insightful story of living with a severe form of muscular dystrophy. They teach audiences how the power of laughter and a positive mindset have helped him overcome the adversity he’s faced.
