About This Cause
Help Peru was formed in 2013 by a group of Peruvian professionals living in NYC who, wanting to give back to their country, created an organization that would provide opportunities for disenfranchised Peruvians for generations to come. Our Purpose: To create a healthier, equitable, and educated society while protecting the environment. Our Mission: To build a better future for Peru's most vulnerable populations. Our Approach: Help Peru works in partnership with local leaders and community organizations to develop, grow, and support sustainable programs while building a culture of philanthropy within Peru in order to sustain and advance our mission. We believe: - Everyone deserves dignity and respect regardless of their circumstances - That women must be at the center of the development process to achieve lasting, sustainable change - In engaging communities in the development process, not as recipients of aid but as active partners in determining their future - In accountability, not only to our donors but also to the communities we serve - All communities have something to offer, and we build our programs on those cornerstones Our Cause Areas: · Health: improving access to quality healthcare, promoting healthy practices, emergency relief · Education: providing opportunities for quality education through in-school, out-of-school, and workforce development initiatives · Environment: protecting natural resources, climate change mitigation & adaptation And one cross-cutting theme that flows through all our programs: Women’s Empowerment & Gender Equity
