Mission Statement
Our tax-deductible Public Charity preserves and protects the genetically unique, critically endangered Heritage Horses of Oklahoma. Many of these horses' ancestors carried Native American tribal members along the Trail of Tears from their original homelands to " Indian Territory " preserving the family bloodlines. DNA testing has confirmed historical accounts of these horses originally being obtained from Spanish Conquistadores, and carefully bred for their enduring characteristics of gentleness and gait.
About This Cause
The Friends of the Heritage Horse Foundation Herds is a group of individuals who are devoted to the preservation and promotion of the Colonial Spanish Horses known as the Heritage Horse of Oklahoma. We do this through direct solicitation of donors, attendance at various educational events throughout the year, direct mail, website and facebook presence. the funds we raise go specifically to purchase feed, hay, salt and mineral blocks, and medical supplies for the horses. Our Board members and officers contribute substantial time and funds to the purpose of our 501c3.
