Mission Statement
Sustainable Israeli-Palestinian Projects promotes cooperation between Israelis and Palestinians on environmental and civil society projects, and American assistance (academic, expertise, etc.) on these projects.
About This Cause
Sustainable Israeli-Palestinian Projects (SIPP) is dedicated to educating the American public on environmental and other socially beneficial projects in Israeli and Palestinian communities, and facilitating ways to engage the public with these projects. Environmental and socially beneficial projects include those that improve the physical and ecological environment in Israeli and Palestinian communities, and the social fabric among and between Israelis and Palestinians. Our mission is to foster cross-cultural efforts relating to environmental and other matters affecting Israelis and Palestinians while building meaningful connections between the Boulder community and Israelis and Palestinians engaged in these efforts. In 2020, SIPP initiated a mini-grant program to competitively provide a small amount of funds (up to $3,000) to small projects that advance our mission. The number of applications we have received far exceeds our resources, but the awards and results has had an impact. Through our mini-grants, we have connected small organizations and projects across Israel and Palestine to one another, and have enhanced empathy between Arabs and Jews. These mini-grants range from teaching Hebrew to women in unrecognized Bedouin villages, and teaching Arabic to Tel Aviv grade-schoolers, to environmental projects involving rainwater catching, environmental education, and climate change. In 2021 we initiated our second round of mini-grants, that will start funding small projects in 2022. We issued a number of mini-grants again in 2023, relief grants to organizations directly affected by war in 2024, and two rounds of mini-grants in 2024.
