Project Details

Hurricane Harvey made landfall in Texas as a category four storm on Friday, August 25. Over the next two days, winds reached speeds of up to 130 miles per hour, and heavy rains produced by the storm over southeast Texas have led to severe flooding and power outages. More than 30,000 people were left seeking temporary shelter, and many were in need of rescue from their homes. The maximum amount of rain was seen in Cedar Bayou, Texas, at over 51 inches, breaking the rainfall record for any tropical storm or hurricane in the U.S. mainland. Harvey also caused severe flooding in surrounding areas, including Louisiana.

The hurricane caused at least 60 deaths and affected areas have begun rebuilding, but the road ahead is a long one. It could take years to recover full from the damage Hurricane Harvey brought.

Our charity partners are on-site, delivering supplies including tents, hygiene kits, emergency medicines and other supplies. Psychological support is also being provided for children, and planning for long-term recovery is underway.

Please donate to Global Impact’s Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund to provide much-needed funding for these relief efforts.

Responding organizations include: Americares, Church World Service, Convoy of Hope, Direct Relief, Episcopal Relief and Development, Habitat for Humanity, International Relief Teams, MAP International, Matthew 25 Ministries, Mercy Corps, Project HOPE, Rise Against Hunger (formerly Stop Hunger Now), Save the Children, ShelterBox USA, UMCOR, UNICEF, World Relief, World Renew and World Vision. Your donations will support some or all of these charities.
