Hurricane Maria slammed into Puerto Rico early on Wednesday, Sept. 20, as a Category 4 storm, wiping out power completely save for a few generators and killing at least 30. Now, nearly a week later, 80 percent of Puerto Rico is still without power, and supplies including food, water and shelter are running short.
As the damage continues to be assessed and a plan is put in place for recovery, those affected by the hurricane are in desperate need of help. Our charity partners are working to provide relief.
Those preparing to respond include Americares, Project HOPE, Save the Children and UNICEF.
