Mission Statement

Junior Achievement’s mission is to educate and inspire young people to succeed in a global economy.

About This Cause

For more than 75 years, Junior Achievement of Southeast Texas has been dedicated to giving young people the knowledge and skills they need to own their economic success, plan for their future, and make smart academic and economic choices through volunteer-delivered programs. Junior Achievement (JA) programs and volunteer role models provide students, K-12th grades, with the positive realizations and reinforcement of career aspirations, an understanding of money management, and exposure to the benefits of business ownership that help overcome negative, competing environmental factors (peer pressure, lack of understanding or support in the community, etc.). The JA experience promotes positive outcomes which lend themselves to promoting greater social mobility. During the 2018-2019 program year, 11,959 volunteers taught 12,268 JA classes to 264,986 students from diverse socioeconomic demographics across greater Houston and Southwest Louisiana areas. This was accomplished through the collaborative efforts and support of teachers, volunteers and community partners who continue to be the lifeblood of JA's service delivery model. For more than 100 years, Junior Achievement has reached more than 117 million children across the United States with its real world lessons and helped prepare them to successfully navigate financial decisions as they join the workforce.
