FOUNDATION FOR AFRO-BRAZILIAN CULTURE INCORPORATED

Brooklyn, New York, 11216 United States

Mission Statement

The Foundation for Afro-Brazilian Culture helps make the cultural arts, dances and music of Brazil accessible to people of all ages, abilities and economic means through classes, workshops, and special events.

About This Cause

Brazilian culture is rooted in the history and experience of the African people who were brought to the region during colonial times. African customs, music, dance, religions, and philosophies run through every aspect of Brazilian life; from the joyous beats of samba to the awesome acrobatics of capoeira, from the vibrant pageantry of Carnaval to the sophisticated tones of bossa nova, a uniquely African perspective informs everything that is generated by the people of Brazil. With that in mind, the Foundation for Afro-Brazilian Culture is dedicated to the promotion of the many arts that Brazil has given the world, and to providing support for their promulgation.
