Our mission is to create a supportive environment where low income, first-time, and returning student mothers are educated, equipped, and empowered to excel academically, personally, and professionally.
About This Cause
Single Mothers Student Success (SMSS) is a free program that offers low income, aspiring single mothers an opportunity to enhance or discover their academic and career potential. We offer two required workshop series to facilitate academic, personal, and professional success. SMSS program participants meet one to five times per month. Our Arriving Ready for Academic Success workshop provides a 16-week orientation to academic strategies and behaviors needed to succeed in a post-secondary environment. Our once-a-month workshop, It Takes a Village, is designed to further educate and equip student mother scholars with topics useful to mothers of varied ages and interests. To further enhance success, we provide a supportive environment of like-minded peers, quarterly family-orientated gatherings, mentoring, personal care and home essential pantry and student mother material support. Our vision is to transform Poverty into Prosperity...one single mother family at a time.
