Mission Statement
The goal of Seattle School of Aikido is to provide Japanese martial arts training and education for kids, teens and adults. We cultivate an open and safe training space to encourage the development of physical, mental and emotional skills.
About This Cause
Seattle School of Aikido is one of the oldest Aikido schools in Seattle and has operated continuously at the same location since 1976. We provide Japanese martial arts training and education for kids, teens and adults. While many are initially drawn to the physical aspects of the arts we teach, there are also important mental and emotional skills developed over time. Multiple teaching moments of culture, etiquette and history present themselves. We mentor nonprofit business administration skills through the management of the school. As a volunteer run organization, we bring together our various talents to build a positive community culture. From our opening day, we have been a welcoming and friendly space to persons of all ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations and religious beliefs. Martial arts offer a special opportunity to really get to know other people in our community.
