Mission Statement
The Contra Costa Jewish Day School is an independent community Jewish Day School located in Lafayette, California, that serves families from all over the East Bay. CCJDS promotes academic excellence through a rich curriculum of general and Judaic studies. We offer a full-day Kindergarten through 8th grade. We are fully accredited by CAIS and WASC. CCJDS students develop the critical thinking and communication skills as well as the values and world outlook that will help them achieve personal success and improve our world. About This Cause
Your gift to the Contra Costa Jewish Day School educates, inspires and empowers the Jewish leaders of tomorrow. Founded in 2001, Contra Costa Jewish Day School (CCJDS) is a Kindergarten through 8th grade independent, community Jewish Day School. CCJDS welcomes families from all backgrounds committed to the school’s mission. CCJDS provides superior academics in both general and Judaic studies. Small class sizes, an outstanding staff, and parent support foster a warm, positive learning environment. We develop the whole child, helping our students grow intellectually, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. At each grade CCJDS has challenging standards for expository writing, mathematics, science, creative expression and critical thinking. Self-expression through art, music, and drama are also essential components of our holistic approach. Our talented teachers utilize innovative instructional methods and individuate curriculum to meet diverse learning styles and abilities. CCJDS cultivates lifelong learning and devotion to Jewish community and tikkun olam (healing the world). Students see themselves as torchbearers of a centuries-old tradition of inquiry and intellectual rigor. Students study modern Hebrew and develop a deep and meaningful connection to Israel that culminates in traveling there together in 8th grade Today’s CCJDS students are the Jewish leaders of tomorrow. We owe it to our future to ensure that our school continues to flourish, with academic excellence supported by strong Jewish values. CCJDS has grown from 23 to 161 students in twelve years. Our family of supporters has been critical to our success. There are many ways to contribute! CCJDS ANNUAL CAMPAIGN Your Gift Provides Educational Excellence Every Day Every year, we need your help to achieve excellence, day in and day out. Tuition does not cover the cost of providing Jewish education of the highest quality. We must raise at least $500,000 each year from contributions. Your support will help: •Hire and retain top-quality faculty •Provide need-based financial aid •Ensure meaningful Judaic and Israel education •Offer drama, music, and art programs •Grow our athletic program and sports teams TRIBUTE GIFTS You can make a donation to the Contra Costa Jewish Day School at any time, in memory, honor, or appreciation of someone. Funds received will be used on scholarships, or other areas that you specify. This helps us to serve the greatest number of Jewish students as possible. CCJDS CAPITAL CAMPAIGN Help Us Complete Our School Building and Move on to Our Gymnasium! We’ve almost completed our campaign! Thanks to the generous support of our community, we opened our state-of-the-art, 18,000 square-foot school building for the start of the 2009-2010 school year. In this beautiful home, academic opportunities and Jewish life flourish. We have raised over $9.0 million for this $9.5 million project. We are so close to the finish line! We must complete our building campaign so that we can move on to our next important project: a gymnasium that will serve our students and our community. CCJDS LEGACY GIVING CAMPAIGN Endowments, Wills and Bequests Leaving a bequest to the Contra Costa Jewish Day School is one of the easiest ways to minimize your family's estate taxes, while supporting and strengthening the quality of Jewish life and education in our community for generations to come.
