First Step’s Soul Shine Blues Festival has been bringing the most authentic and original blues acts to Northwest Ohio for the past 22 years. Originally conceived as a music festival to raise funds for First Step programs, Soul Shine quickly became focused on the blues and rose to fame for attracting the best national acts. The Soul Shine Blues Festival has developed a reputation for honoring the legacy of great blues music. Booking internationally recognized blues musicians such as Hubert Sumlin, Henry Gray, Eddie Shaw and more, we have witnessed the star-struck looks of many participants as they dance and sing along.
Soul Shine gives First Step the opportunity to reach out and meet with community members and make them aware of our work and also give them an opportunity to get involved. First Step proudly brings local bands onto the stage, giving them another opportunity to win over more fans as well as meeting other great blues musicians.
As our only major fundraiser, Soul Shine is one way that people can show their support for First Step’s work of building strong, healthy families.
The Soul Shine Blues Festival works to promote, educate and keep Blues music alive in the local area. Soul Shine has a good reputation as a top tier small blues festival in the Midwest. The festival has been held at the historic Meadowbrook Park Ballroom in Bascom, Ohio.
