Opportunity Details

Lock ups happen each year at MDA Beaumont and raise thousands of dollars for our MDA families. It's a fun twist on fundraising. We call locals who enjoy the event and ask them to participate in the experience again. They are picked up by the Beaumont Police Department and brought over to The Grill in Beaumont, Texas on October 11th. While they are "in jail" they have to raise bail money - generally $2,000. They eat, drink, and have fun during the entire event. Many have been participating for well over 10 years and love every minute of it!

We need volunteers to help us stuff packets of materials for our "Jail Birds" and call potential Jail Birds for the event. These Beaumont citizens are "repeat offenders" and will generally know what event you're talking about. We just need to remind them and have them give us an up-to-date contact sheet for us to send over their materials for 2018.

Since our establishment as an outreach service of Council of Churches of the Ozarks in 1974, RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program) has been dedicated to improving the futures of children and older adults. Retired volunteers find renewed purpose in serving children and home-bound seniors. Volunteers improve individuals’ lives by providing companionship, literacy tutoring, and access to food. Last year, volunteers delivered compassion and assistance one-on-one to 614 persons. The need for these services continues to rise in our community. We are hosting a fundraiser to continue to meet those needs.

This year, RSVP with the assistance of St. Francis Guild will host a Rollin’ for the Future Bunco Tournament. The fundraising event will take place Friday, November 9, 2018 from 5:30 p.m. - 9 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. Event proceeds benefit the children, seniors, and families served by the programs of RSVP.

Keep our community warm through the holidays! We are hosting our 4th Annual Coat Drive to prepare for winter weather. There are two ways to get involved listed below!

1. We are collecting gently used coats throughout the month of September. If you or your children have any coats that are too small please drop them off at the YMCA Front Desk!

2. We are distributing coats at the YMCA on Sunday, October 7th and Monday, October 8th. Sunday is coat pick up for FOSTER FAMILIES and HOMELESS only. Monday is for anyone else who would like a coat. We have 6 shifts that need volunteers. All shifts are listed below. We would LOVE to have Kohl's volunteers help us distribute coats!
