Opportunity Details

Walk For Wish is a nationwide Make-A-Wish event, in which each chapter holds their independent walk benefitting local kids in that state. At the walk we celebrate wishes that have already been granted, while raising funds for future wishes. It is a family friendly event powered by wish families, volunteers, sponsors, donors and community members. Volunteers are critical in ensuring more wishes in Oklahoma are granted. We walk for the 3,000+ life-changing wishes granted to Oklahoma children, the 141 Oklahoma wishes granted in our 2017 fiscal year, the 157 Oklahoma wishes that will be granted in our 2018 fiscal year, and the 200+ Oklahoma children anxiously waiting for their heartfelt wish to come true.

There is an estimated 724,750 food insecure individuals who live in the greater Houston area – that equates to a food insecurity rate of 16.6 percent – which is about 4 percentage points above the national average. In collaboration with the Houston Food Bank, Bread of Life distributes 45,000 pounds of healthy nutrient-rich food each week to families throughout the greater Houston area.
