We’re raising the resiliency of our fellow New Yorkers. In this past year we’ve stood for those hardest hit by the pandemic, and as New York comes back to life, we are continuing our efforts, so that no New Yorker is left behind.
Wherever you are in the world, there is one universal truth that we all share: COVID-19 hit all of us really hard in one way or another. This past year has tested us all beyond measure. NYC was no exception, and we saw our beloved city torn apart in so many different ways. Businesses folded, jobs were lost, and food insecurity hit an all time high in the city that we love so dearly.
But in the true spirit of New York we found ways—individually and collectively—to rise to the challenge and become more resilient. The fighting spirit of New York rose up to stand strong against the adversity that we faced, and we let the pandemic make us stronger. Our pandemic non-profit is a celebration of all that is strong in New York, and a promise to fight for those who continue to face challenges.
As we continue to grow, we are providing 8,000 meals per month, and 1,000 sanitary packs to those who are still feeling the after-effects of the pandemic. Let’s put our efforts together to make sure all the people of NYC have the basics like quality food, and personal care items. Let’s help our fellow New Yorkers stand up, and collectively rebuild the city that we love so much.
There is a lot of love in our kitchen, and we have created an environment of support not only for those who we provide food to, but also to those who volunteer for us. All our volunteer opportunities are highly accessible for both beginner and advanced volunteers. We have openings for cooks, food prep, dishing food into containers, dishwashers, cleaners, as well as admin opportunities.

Due to the pandemic, many children in Honduras are currently not attending school nor receiving classes from a teacher. Schooling is being carried out through the delivery and completion of homework worksheets with little to no guidance, the little guidance being given through a prerecorded class on television. For the past two years, we have been offering free tutoring at schools in-person in Honduras. Now, we have found a way to continue our lessons via live Zoom classes.

We are looking for a volunteer to tutor for one of the classes we have in Honduras
This would be for our 4th grade math tutoring program. These sessions would be one hour per week. We have virtual material we teach you how to use in class!

- No materials from you are required.
- We will offer a virtual seminar for training
- There is an easy to use curriculum for tutors to follow

The schedule will be finalized with tutor feedback. It is once a week, usually one hour between 3pm and 5pm CST.

Spanish professional working proficiency or higher is required since our students only speak Spanish.

We offer volunteer hours, as we are a 501 c 3, and recommendation letters are available upon request.

Each year, suicide claims more lives than war, murder, and natural disasters combined. Yet suicide prevention doesn't receive anywhere near the funding as other leading causes of death. It's up to Walkers like us to make a difference. Together we can change the conversation about mental health and put a stop to this tragic loss of life.
The core of the Out of the Darkness Walks, the Community Walks created a movement. Held in hundreds of cities across the country, they give people the courage to open up about their own struggle or loss, and the platform to change our culture’s approach to mental health. We invite you to join us as a volunteer for our Mohawk Valley Out of the Darkness Walk on October 3, 2021!
