Volunteers are essential to MDA’s mission of transforming the lives of people living with muscular dystrophy, ALS, and related neuromuscular diseases. We are looking for a group of committed volunteers to assist fire fighters in person at their upcoming boot drives with a variety of event tasks including supply distribution, taking photos, counting/organizing money for deposit, and delivering food/water to crews as they are out collecting.After registering at https://www.mda.org/get-involved/become-a-volunteer, you’ll work with an MDA staff partner or another volunteer leader on specific needs in your market. We are committed to ensuring that your volunteer experience is a rewarding one, while helping to fuel MDA’s mission.
This opportunity will require the ability to be outdoors in some instances, engage with fire fighters and a positive and professional approach. For volunteers who wish to help with supply distribution, they will need the ability to lift 25lbs but this is not mandatory to participate in this volunteer opportunity.

A board member needs to be a strong supporter of our mission in "Providing Peer Support to Children and Adults Grieving a Loss Due to a Difficult Life event". Duties include Recruit, supervise, retain, evaluate and compensate the manager, provide direction for the organization, Establish a policy-based governance system, and Govern the organization and the relationship with the CEO.
Opportunity Details
Coach and motivate digital learners to sharpen their digital knowledge and skills through mid September.Volunteers are needed to assist with tasks such as typing the URL in the address bar, setting up their Indeed profile and LinkedIn alerts, and navigating through Microsoft Office.

All trainings are held on Saturdays from 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM through September 17th.
Each class has a total of 60 Digital Learners
What You Bring as a Volunteer:
Commitment for 2 - 3 Saturdays, but are welcomed and encouraged to do more
Comfort with navigating through digital spaces and using technology
A great attitude!
Spanish speakers / bilingual volunteers are appreciated

Opportunity Details
Volunteers will have an opening overview to learn more about Oak City Cares’ work with people experiencing homelessness in Wake County. We will tour the innovative facility and have time for questions and answers.Volunteers will then break into teams to help accomplish:
• Assembling snack bags for our guests experiencing homelessness.
• Sorting and organizing in-kind donations for distribution to our guests experiencing homelessness.
• Prepare, organize, clean our community dining room and kitchen for weekend meals
Dress: Volunteers should dress comfortably and wear closed-toed shoes. Masks, gloves, cleaning supplies, and any required COVID protocol materials will be available on-site and free to volunteers. Volunteers are welcome to bring your own mask.

Once you sign up, you’ll work hand in hand with an MDA staff partner or another volunteer leader to ensure your volunteer experience is a rewarding one, while helping to fuel MDA's mission.
