Mission Statement

Creation: SOS Children's Villages is a non-profit organization that has been working in the world since 1949. Born in Austria, in a context of postwar and drastic social, economic and political change, it was a pioneer in addressing the problems of childhood and in the design of care strategies through the foster care model for alternative care of those children who had lost family care. Our story in Argentina: In Argentina, since 1979 it has carried out its work in the promotion, protection and restitution of the fundamental rights of boys and girls, through social development programs and various forms of intervention, in Mar del Plata, Oberá, Luján, Rosario and Córdoba. We work for the right of children to live as a family, and develop their full potential in it. Our efforts are aimed at preventing the loss of family care for children, adolescents and young people and, when it has been lost, we offer care alternatives, aiming at family and community reintegration whenever possible.

OUR WORK We work for the right of children to live as a family We develop intervention strategies to prevent the loss of family care for boys and girls. When it is not possible to avoid it, and the state authority so determines, we provide care alternatives without separating the brothers, guaranteeing the presence of an emotional reference to accompany them in their daily activities and working to reintegrate their families and communities, or so that they have other possibilities of living as a family. OUR PROGRAMS To ensure that children can exercise their rights and develop fully in a protective family environment, we carry out these programs: Alternative Care, Family Strengthening and Community Development, Adolescents and young people, Family Reintegration and Adoption, Capacity Development, Educational Centers, Public Incidence. Family Strengthening and Community Development We help children at risk of losing the care of their families. We focus on prevention: we strengthen the care capacities of families so that they can relate from affection, respecting the rights of the children in their care. * Alternative Care We receive children and adolescents deprived of the care of their families, according to the decision of the highest enforcement authority. We welcome them in safe family settings, without separating siblings. They live in a house made up of 6 or 7 children and an SOS Caregiver, accompanied by a specialized team. Adolescents and Youth We progressively accompany participants in the Alternative Care Program in their transition to adulthood and in building their autonomy. We accompany them in their projects and encourage training for employment, the completion of tertiary and / or university studies. * Family Reimbursement and Adoption: We work with participants in the Alternative Care Program who will be reintegrated into their families of origin, or who are in the process of adoption. We accompany the bonding processes and strengthen the care capacities of the families that will receive them. *Family Reimbursement and Adoption We work with participants in the Alternative Care Program who will be reintegrated into their families of origin, or who are in the process of adoption.
