We believe in a future where no one goes hungry and food is valued, not wasted. We’re on a mission to feed people in need, stop food waste and protect our planet by championing the value of food and driving change at all levels of society We are working to achieve five UN Sustainable Development Goals. We do this through our 4 pillars – Feed, Educate, Advocate and Innovate
About This Cause
We collect over 200 tonnes of excess food every week and deliver it to over 1800 charities across Australia. Since 2004 we have delivered over 200 million meals to those in need. OzHarvest operates across Sydney, Newcastle, Adelaide, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Perth, ACT and Melbourne as well as regional locations. Every $1 we receive allows us to deliver 2 meals to someone in need. FEED Ensuring access to fresh and nutritious food for all. In Australia 1 in 6 people experience food insecurity, while 7.6 million tonnes of food goes to waste. We’re working hard to keep good food out of landfill and make sure it goes to feed those who need it most. Food rescue underpins everything we do and in times of national emergency or natural disasters, our food relief response supports vulnerable communities in need. Our Impact 200 meals delivered to date 1800 charities supported 3000 food donors providing food EDUCATE Creating positive change through education programs. We’re changing the way people think about food, increasing life skills around healthy eating and strengthening community connections. Our curriculum-aligned program for schools, FEAST inspires future change-makers, NEST teaches adults to cook and eat healthily on a budget and through Nourish we share a special journey with vulnerable young people, offering hospitality training and pathways for a better future INNOVATE Creating social impact projects for profit and purpose. Innovation is part of our DNA. We’re always looking to add value to what we do and find new ways to tackle food waste, feed hungry people and generate revenue to help keep our wheels turning. Continuous innovation inspires our mission and guides our work through our social impact business, ForPurposeCo ADVOCATE Empowering others to halve food waste and promote food security. Through our advocacy work, we are championing the value of food, to make wasting it a thing of the past. OzHarvest helped set the national target to halve food waste by 2030 and we’re committed to achieving that goal by driving change at all levels of society.
