Mission Statement

WWF’s global mission is to build a future in which humans live in harmony with nature. Thanks to the generosity of supporters like you, we’re working to achieve these goals: 1) net-zero emissions by 2050; 2) nature-positive by 2030; 3) no loss of natural habitats or species extinctions caused by humans by 2030; 4) a fair, best and just energy transition that stabilises global warming below 1.5℃.

About This Cause

Together, we can build a cleaner, safer, waste-free and prosperous future and transform our world to one where people and nature live in enduring harmony. Our solutions must deliver positive outcomes for nature, communities and climate impact. Only by delivering on all three will we ensure long-term, bigger-picture solutions that are driven by people and communities. With your support, in Australia we will restore and regenerate the areas of Sky, Country and Saltwater: 1. Regenerative Sky is WWF-Australia’s program of work to build a healthy and resilient net-zero world. Our vision is to support Australia in joining global leaders to secure a healthy climate powered by communities, nature and renewable energy. 2. Regenerative Country will protect and recover species and habitats. Our vision is to transform Australia from a deforestation to a reforestation nation and regenerate vital landscapes and animals. 3. Through the Regenerative Saltwater pillar, we are rallying our region to safeguard our oceans, create safe passages for marine wildlife and support coastal communities. Your donation today could support projects including: KOALAS FOREVER Koalas are heading for extinction unless urgent action is taken. They desperately need your help to survive. From deadly disease to catastrophic wildfires, floods and rampant deforestation - koalas have been hit from all angles. Now uplisted to Endangered status along our east coast, they're at a critical crossroads. Your donation could help protect them against the deadly bacterial disease Chlamydia, which is decimating their populations. You’ll also help create safe wildlife habitat corridors through protection and restoration of their forest homes. And for each koala you assist, you’ll be helping hundreds of other native species, too. TOWARDS 2 BILLION TREES Our native forests are home to some of the most unique wildlife and plants on Earth. Today our precious trees are being lost at an unprecedented rate. Every year an estimated 500,000 hectares of native forests and woodlands are bulldozed across Australia. Worse still, without our urgent, collective action, an estimated 750 million native animals in Australia will die because of excessive tree-clearing by 2030. Your donation could help to protect and plant two billion trees by 2030 by: • STOPPING excessive tree-clearing • PROTECTING our existing trees and forests • RESTORING native habitat that has been lost. REWILDING AUSTRALIA You can help restore Australia’s ecosystems by returning missing animal links such as platypus, which play an important role as ecosystem regulators or ecosystem engineers. The changing climate and associated catastrophic bushfires and droughts, new dams, the over-extraction of water from rivers, land clearing, attacks by foxes, dogs, and cats, pollution and urban sprawl present serious threats to platypus. The platypus is facing a silent extinction. You can help to protect them and their habitat and support a unique rewilding program that reintroduces platypus back into areas where they once thrived.
