Mission Statement
Established in 1871, the RSPCA is Australia’s only national animal welfare organisation. It is a not-for-profit, community based charity and receives less than 3% Government funding. The RSPCA provides animal care, community education and advocacy. It works to improve animal welfare by enforcing legislation to prevent animal cruelty. The RSPCA cares for the welfare of animals through its shelters, Inspectorate, humane food programs, education campaigns and by working with government and industry to improve legislation.
About This Cause
Each year over 127,000 stray, injured and surrendered animals are received by RSPCA shelters and over 58,500 complaints of animal cruelty and neglect are investigated. The RSPCA is the voice for all animals. As Australia’s most loved and respected animal welfare organisation, the RSPCA works to prevent cruelty to animals by actively promoting their care and protection to ensure that all creatures great and small are treated humanely.
