Mission Statement

MiakWadang - Our vision “We support people in South Sudan in developing and planning their future. To this end, we initiate and support self-help processes and provide material and technical assistance.” MiakWadang - Our values (principles) Solution orientation instead of problem orientation. We think and act in a solution-oriented, holistic and systemic way (in terms of salutogenesis). Promotion of personal responsibility By serving each other and expressing appreciation, we strengthen and promote the creative power and initiative of all people involved. Professionalism and traceability Clear definition of goals, transparent decision-making processes and compliance with globally accepted framework agreements (e.g. human rights) form the basis for realizing our dreams and for forming partnerships. Our work must be comprehensible for donors, sponsors and partners (reporting, equal ranking of project shares). Intangible before tangible More important than material results and support is the love of wanting and being able to move something, which focuses on the human being in its entirety (body-soul-spirit). On the same heart level The encounter between people takes place in mutual listening, in dialogue on a partnership level. Diversity is affirmed in mutual trust. This forms the basis for opening borders. Christian core values The Christian image of man characterizes our work without excluding those of other faiths. Gentleness, humility and integrity determine our responsible interaction in the awareness that Miak Wadang needs leeway for God's guidance.

About This Cause

MIAKWADANG is now active in Yei / Central Equatoria / SouthSudan. - TRAUMAHEALING 1/3 of the population is heavily traumatized due to civil wars, displacements, drought and flooding. Our trauma seminars empower kids, students, adults to overcome the shadows of the past and lead a productive life again. - STREET CHILDREN MUSIC CENTER Music, dance, drama are strength of street children and can be the entry to education, personal hygiene, discipline, time consciousness and more. Trained participants become peers for others. - WOMEN COOPERATIVES Ladies are quick learners of different crafts and gain knowledge of marketing goods in a cooperative setting and with micro loans. Several coops are already successful without outside support. - SAFE CHILD SPACES Children are spending hours several times a week with activities and teaching and sports to relax and forget some horrors of the past. Mothers have expressed their thankfulness for change in their children as they have given up on education due to fighting for economic survival all day and leaving kids in the streets. - YOUTH CLUBS Football is the entry point for many young people and is peace forming amongst them. They react well to sports discipline and heartfelt engagement of the trainers. They even started community services with street cleaning. - STUDENT SPONSORING Schools in SouthSudan are collecting fees, often prohibitive for families to pay. Kids and youths are enrolled in a support program and get assistance with material. - STUDENT MENTORING With so many interrupted family situations, lack of proper housing, food, medical help, psychological support etc. it is extremely difficult for students to have the stamina for studying properly. The mentoring program provides surrogate family, personal assistance, food, uplifting experiences for hope for a good future - AGRICULTURE The country has extremely fertile soil and does not need chemicals. Organic farming produces vegetables and fruits in big variety and quantity. Agric is a great way of identifying with the culture of old and leading into modern times using food security and the "Green Gold" . - AFRICAN MEDICINAL PLANTS There is a rich past with knowledge of plants to use for prevention and therapy of diseases. This wisdom can be revived and healing plants furthered. Plants like artemisia can be used for many ailments and around every hut there should be a Moringa tree, a Neem tree and an Artemisia bush. Farmacy turned into Pharmacy. - AGROFORESTRY Climate change has a very severe effect in South Sudan. Therefore we are promoting planting of trees, 100.000 for a start in urban and rural setting. This is done with community and schools and different organisations. "Green YEI" will definitely look better and be cooler and have urban gardens under the trees. - SIGN LANGUAGE SCHOOL There are many deaf people by birth and diseases. By teaching them to communicate in sign language we are providing them with new life and acceptance in society. Such a joyful atmosphere to work with them and seeing their talents developing. UNESO has visited the school and acknowledged its quality - THE TEAM consists purely of SouthSudanese, most of them with higher education, very motivated to help their own people and they know what is necessary and best for vulnerables. Proposals - budgets - reports are routine and bookkeeping of good standard. Funds are needed for this time as mainly social work does not create money. Agriculture and economic startups will create independence from outside. But for now there are funds needed for the setup.
