Mission Statement
AboutCode Europe ASBL (AboutCode) is a public-benefit non-profit association dedicated to promoting the development, recognition, and use of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) globally. AboutCode's main activities include supporting and funding developers and organizations that create, research, and develop FOSS, and assisting with the promotion, defense, and development of open software, open data, and open standards, ensuring these resources are accessible to the public as open digital commons for the benefit of all.
About This Cause
As creators of Package-URL (PURL), co-founders of SPDX, core contributors to CycloneDX, creators of ScanCode, co-founders of ClearDefined, co-founders of ORT, creators of DejaCode, VulnerableCode, and PurlDB, AboutCode focus is to enable friction-free reuse of more open source software, safely and efficiently, because open source software is foundational to the modern internet. AboutCode also works to promote decentralized, resilient open solutions for the safe deployment of software supply chains worldwide, and to support the development and maintenance of high-quality FOSS tools to understand the origin, license, security, and other attributes of code, backed by open data and standards.
