Mission Statement
Our Mission To act through Curative Education and Social Therapy, promoting the human, emotional, and spiritual development of people with disabilities.
About This Cause
The Associação Beneficente Parsifal is a non-profit organisation dedicated to human development. Our work promotes the awakening of new abilities through therapeutic and educational processes, encouraging mutual learning among those assisted, therapists, and families. Our Journey Our story began in 1988, when German curative educator Karin Evelyn Scheven, together with Franz Rottermund, created the “Atelier de Bonecas Evi”, (Evi Doll Workshop), to teach handicrafts to mothers in vulnerable situations. Over time, people with disabilities and special abilities — often excluded from the job market — joined the group. It became clear that, with consistent support, they not only produced beautiful dolls but also gained respect, dignity, and personal development. In 1991, the Associação Beneficente Parsifal was officially founded, focusing on the care of children, young people, and adults with disabilities and psychological disorders, applying Curative Education and Social Therapy, both based on Anthroposophy. Since then, the organizations mission has been to restore autonomy and dignity by nurturing each individual’s latent potential. What We Offer Parsifal provides a range of services including: • Kindergarten • Special Needs School (Years 1–8) • Therapeutic Social Centre (extra-curricular activities) • Therapeutic Workshops All activities are led by trained professionals in Curative Education and Social Therapy, many of whom hold further specialisations in related fields, and also supported by volunteers from areas such as health and education. Professional Training Since its foundation, Parsifal has maintained a Training Course in Curative Education and Social Therapy, recognised by the Anthroposophical Medical Section of the School of Spiritual Science in Dornach, Switzerland, and by the Anthroposophical Medical Section in Brazil. This course is designed for professionals in health, education, and therapy working with people with disabilities, as well as those seeking self-development through Anthroposophy. Inclusive Community Our day-to-day work embraces social relationships that value the uniqueness of each person. Promoting community events that, beyond raising funds also encourage human connection. These include two annual fairs and the celebration of Parsifal’s anniversary — moments of genuine inclusion, interaction, and belonging. Support from APAP These initiatives are supported by APAP – Association of Parents and Friends of Parsifal. Guided by the motto “Where people come together with skill, goodwill, and dedication to make things happen”, APAP promotes weekly therapeutic craft workshops for parents and friends. These gatherings nurture the principles of Anthroposophy with warmth and consistency, benefitting the wider community. Commitment to Inclusion Parsifal is committed to upholding an ideal focused on human development, especially for those unable to contribute financially. But who, like all people, deserve opportunities for growth and fulfilment. The institution believes that a just society includes everyone, and a dignified one enhances each person’s unique potential, enabling them to participate in the humanisation of social life.
