Mission Statement
CENHA – Our Mission and Commitment At CENHA, our mission is to foster the full development and inclusion of children and young people with Down syndrome, autism, and other neurodevelopmental, physical, and behavioral conditions. Through a comprehensive and human-centered approach, we offer social assistance, therapeutic interventions, educational support, and inclusive programs designed to transform lives and promote dignity, autonomy, and social participation. We believe that every individual, regardless of their challenges, has the right to thrive. That’s why we provide a wide range of specialized services that address not only physical and cognitive needs but also emotional, social, and communicative development. A Holistic Approach to Care CENHA stands out for its integrated and multidisciplinary model. Our team of professionals works together to ensure each person receives individualized care tailored to their specific needs, goals, and potential. Equine Therapy helps enhance motor functions, communication, emotional regulation, and cognitive development through the therapeutic interaction with horses. Physical Therapy supports the recovery and strengthening of movement and function, aiming to reintegrate children and youth into social life with increased autonomy. Speech Therapy develops language, speech, fluency, and hearing skills, promoting communication and empowering individuals to express themselves fully. Hydrotherapy leverages the benefits of warm water to support motor recovery, reduce pain and spasms, and improve overall well-being. Psychology offers individual and group sessions focused on emotional support, self-awareness, sexual education, and family counseling. Educational Psychology (Psychopedagogy) addresses learning processes and difficulties, supporting cognitive, emotional, and physical aspects of education. Occupational Therapy promotes autonomy and inclusion through meaningful activities, helping each individual gain functional independence. Social Services provide essential support, advocacy, and guidance to families, strengthening their access to rights, public policies, and a more just society. Driven by Inclusion and Dignity CENHA’s purpose goes beyond treatment and rehabilitation — we are a place of hope, resilience, and belonging. We are driven by the belief that every life has value and that no barrier is insurmountable when care, compassion, and expertise come together. We do not see our work as a service, but as a calling. We walk alongside families and individuals on their journey toward a better quality of life, supporting them not only as professionals but as partners in transformation. Together for a Brighter Future Our work is rooted in philanthropy and social justice. We serve vulnerable communities and individuals with love, respect, and an unwavering commitment to inclusion. At CENHA, we dream of a world where all children — regardless of their condition or background — can grow, learn, and live with dignity and opportunity. Every day, we renew our mission to make this world more welcoming, supportive, and inclusive — one child, one family, one story at a time.
About This Cause
Equine Therapy Target Audience: Individuals facing neuromotor challenges, sensory impairments (hearing, speech, and visual), developmental and/or behavioral disorders, as well as orthopedic conditions of congenital or acquired origin. Objective: Our mission is to provide comprehensive improvements encompassing motor, linguistic, psychological, and cognitive aspects for those facing these challenges. Through equine therapy, we aim not only to support physical rehabilitation but also to develop communication skills, strengthen mental health, and foster cognitive growth among our beneficiaries. Physical Therapy CENHA’s physical therapy department is primarily focused on promoting the biopsychosocial reintegration of the children we serve. Our goal is to restore movement and functionality after illness or injury, helping these children reintegrate into society — or get as close as possible — with autonomy and renewed abilities. We believe that the success of rehabilitation should not be measured only by full or partial physical recovery. It is essential that the child can return to their original social role, matching or approximating their performance before the incident or condition. Our physical therapists work within multidisciplinary functional health teams, collaborating with occupational therapists, speech therapists, and psychologists. Together, we serve children and adults affected by nervous system injuries, whether congenital or acquired. Our commitment is to provide comprehensive, personalized care, focusing not only on physical recovery but also on emotional strength and the development of essential life skills to ensure each individual reaches the highest quality of life possible. Speech Therapy Our speech therapy services focus on the promotion of health, prevention, assessment, diagnosis, guidance, and therapy (habilitation and rehabilitation), addressing all areas of speech-language pathology. This includes oral and written language, speech, fluency, the stomatognathic system, and hearing function and related skills. Our team of speech therapists is dedicated to providing comprehensive and personalized care, aiming not only to resolve specific challenges but also to support overall communication and auditory development. We empower our patients to reach their full potential in language, speech, and hearing, ultimately enhancing their quality of life. Hydrotherapy Target Audience: Patients with motor deficits. Objective: Our goal in hydrotherapy is to promote full-body muscle relaxation and strengthening, support joint range of motion, relieve pain, and reduce muscle spasms — all by leveraging the physical properties and warmth of water. This therapeutic approach aims to improve the quality of life and well-being of patients with motor impairments by providing more complete and effective rehabilitation. Psychology We offer both individual and group psychological care for the youth who seek our services. This means we tailor our approach to meet the specific needs of each person. In group settings, we address common challenges faced in daily life, while individual sessions focus on personal concerns. In addition, we provide sexual education and guidance for families. Our goal is to create a safe, supportive environment where youth can explore and understand the issues they face. We are also committed to fostering healthy family relationships and offering guidance on matters related to sexuality. In this way, we strive to ensure that every young person receives the individualized and family-centered support they need. Educational Psychology (Psychopedagogy) Our psychopedagogical approach is deeply rooted in a philanthropic commitment to understanding and supporting the learning process in its cognitive, emotional, and physical dimensions. This includes both typical learning development and the identification and remediation of difficulties. We are devoted to providing comprehensive support and guidance, helping each individual progress educationally in an effective and altruistic way. Our mission is driven by a sincere desire to empower those who seek our services and help them thrive academically and personally. Social Services The philanthropic heart of our organization beats through our social services. Based on research and analysis of social realities, we are dedicated to designing, implementing, and evaluating services, programs, and social policies aimed at preserving, protecting, and expanding human rights and social justice. Our commitment is fueled by a genuine passion to make the world a more just and equitable place — where every individual is valued and supported on their path to a dignified life. This is the gateway to our NGO, where compassion and solidarity guide every step we take. Occupational Therapy At the core of our philanthropic mission is Occupational Therapy — a healthcare discipline that embraces human activity as a powerful therapeutic resource. We are committed to promoting well-being in its biological, psychological, and social dimensions, driven by a steadfast passion to make a difference. We work tirelessly to prevent, treat, and rehabilitate, but our true mission goes beyond that. We aim to empower each person we serve, fostering their independence and autonomy. Our vision is to create a world where everyone has the opportunity to grow, flourish, and live fully. We believe that with love and care, we can walk the path of transformation. Every person we serve is more than a patient — they are a story of hope, resilience, and triumph. It is an honor to be part of that journey, working side by side to build a brighter future full of possibilities. This is our commitment, and this is what drives us every day.
