About This Cause

We want the Prevention of child and youth marginality through the realization of a socio-educational work directed at children and young people in situation of social vulnerability and their families, with the purpose of improving the quality of life, developing a progressive educational action. We have programs to work with each kind of person we support, here are the description of the ones that are active nowadays: Solidarity - Pedreira (Pedreira is the name of the neighborhood) Project Solidarity Quarry This project has been in execution since 1994 and is part of the socio-educational programs for the protection of children and adolescents, guidance and social-family support, as well as socio-educational support in the open. 240 children and adolescents at risk and social vulnerability from 6 to 18 years old are attended daily. In this service, socio-educational activities are carried out through dynamic programs of citizenship training, artistic and cultural activities, through workshops, games and games, walks, civic and folk festivals, for educational, cultural and leisure purposes; professional initiation activities, through computer courses, administrative routines and beauty (manicure, hairdressing, hair removal and makeup). All activities are supervised by a team of coordinators and are organized in a way directed to two distinct groups, divided by age group. The first group comprises children and adolescents between 6 and 15 years of age (Center for Children and Adolescents - CCA) and the second group of 15-18 year olds (Center for Youth - CJ). These activities take place in the morning (8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.), afternoon (1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.) and evening (6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.), serving users at alternative school hours. There are also 2 meals per day for each participant in the prIMG_1419 object. Based on the principle of universal fraternity, the project seeks to promote and improve sincere, continuous and constructive dialogue among all, valuing each one's contribution and spreading a culture of solidarity, peace and mutual respect. Socio-Educational Workshops The Project comprises seven workshops of diverse and complementary modalities: music, theater, sport, computer science. These workshops are interspersed with other socio-educational and recreational activities and the professionals involved work in an integrated way. The young people of 15 to 17 years also have workshops of Administrative and Beauty Routines (basic notions of hairdressing, manicure and pedicure). The cultural, artistic and sports workshops contribute to the achievement of autonomy and to the development of the potentialities and talents of the 240 children and adolescents (aged 6 to 18) attended by the Quarry Solidarity Project, as well as strengthening family and through the recovery of cultural roots and the encouragement of citizenship. Construction of houses in a collaborative system This social action has existed for 33 years. It was started by a group of volunteers and consists of the reform and construction of masonry houses for the residents of the community. More than 500 families have already benefited from this project. Only through the partnership with Instituto Azzi, between 2011 and 2015, have been renovated or built 180 houses. Our objective is to be able to complete all the reforms, improvements and external finishing of the community. Educar Project Since 2003, in partnership with the Providência Azul Benevolent Association, this project has been implemented to provide scholarships in technical and university courses to the adolescents and young people of the Vila Aparecida community and surrounding area, as well as to AFAGO-SP employees to motivate them and empower them. In these 13 years, more than 200 young people have had their diplomas and have thus been able to enter the labor market.
