Mission Statement
The mandate of Community Vision Group is to feed children at their place of education through the Feed the Child Initiative. This initiative seeks to provide locally sourced healthy and nutritious meals to primary-aged children especially those from poor socio-economic backgrounds through a model called Home-Grown School Feeding. Our Home-Grown School Feeding model has great potential for multisectoral gains including improved educational and nutritional outcomes for children, food systems transformation via our local procurement modalities, enhanced local economies as the programme offers smallholder farmers access to a structured, stable, and profitable market; thereby increasing their income levels, minimising post-harvest losses, and improving overall social protection outcomes. Community Vision Group has a unique and obvious mission which is to contribute towards a poverty-free society, where children can live to their full potential. What sets us apart with this mission is the drive to invest in community transformation. Where there is a hungry child, CVG goes not only for the child but for the entire community and through CVG-HGSF programme, we power communities for the realisation of the global development agenda including no poverty, zero hunger, good health and wellbeing, quality education, gender equality, decent work and economic growth, reduced inequalities, responsible consumption and production, climate action, partnerships as well as peace, justice, and strong institutions. Our approach is holistic - wherever we feed children, we accompany the communities with our allied programmes including Hepatitis B awareness and support programme, primary eyecare programme, skill development, school/community library initiative as well as nutritional assessments, education, training, and research. All of these are encapsulated in our vision - A transformed community through shared responsibility.
