About This Cause

Kiwanis International (KI) is a global community of clubs, members and partners dedicated to improving the lives of children one community at a time. Today, we stand with more than 550,000 members from K-Kids (grade school) to Key Club (high school) to adult Kiwanis members -- and many ages in between! We are in 80 countries and geographic areas, with more than 10,000 members in Canada! Each community has different needs, and Kiwanis International empowers members to pursue creative ways to serve the unique needs of children and youth in their community. Our Toronto Club, chartered in 1917, is about service and improving our community. We also believe in creating lifetime friendships as there is a shared joy that comes from doing great things together. We are passionate about making a difference. Helping kids grow and succeed is at the heart of everything we do. But how we do it is just as important. We believe our neighbourhoods and our world are best served when people of all ages and different backgrounds work together to share their time and talents. Our strategic priorities include volunteering in the community, growing an engaged membership, mentorship, and leadership development . Philanthropy Over our 100+ years, we have provided financial support to hundreds of children and youth charities in Toronto through our Kiwanis Club of Toronto Foundation. Each year, we award thousands of dollars to deserving organizations that are providing much-needed services in our city. Between 2020 - 2021, we supported over 20 local organizations through our three granting streams! Volunteer Our Kiwanis Cares team is made up of members who identify opportunities for our Kiwanis Toronto members to volunteer within the community, helping children and youth charities with special events or projects, regular maintenance, fundraising and more! Service Leadership Programs (SLPs) Service Leadership Programs are student-led leadership programmes designed to inspire students to become engaged members of their communities. We work with communities of all ages by sponsoring Builder’s Clubs in grade schools, Key Clubs in high schools, and Circle K clubs for universities. Legacy Partner: BGC Toronto Kiwanis We are proud to have founded and continue to play a leadership role with BGC Toronto Kiwanis. BGC Toronto Kiwanis provides safe supportive places where children and youth can experience new opportunities, overcome barriers, build positive relationships, and develop confidence and skills for life. Through their afterschool programs, more than 3,500 inner-city children and youth have a safe space to learn and grow.
