Mission Statement

We open doors to homes for people with limited mobility to enhance dignity through accessible homes that are appropriate and affordable.

About This Cause

We are Calgary-based charity that works directly with individuals living with physical disabilities whom, in effect, often become low-income and/or peoples experiencing homelessness. Accessible Housing Society offers four core programs which help to meet a wide range of needs that our clients, residents and their families may have. Inclusio A state-of-the-art, fully accessible supportive living residence for adults with mobility-restrictions. The advanced technology that was incorporated into the design of Inclusio allows residents the opportunity to maintain much of their autonomy & independence, while still receiving in-house assistance when needed. Bridge to Home (B2H) A 12-24 month intensive case management program for individuals experiencing chronic and/or episodic homelessness with limited-mobility. Our case managers work alongside our B2H clients to help clients transition into community housing. Housing is provided in a scattered site model, utilizing market and non-market rental housing with rental supplements. RAD Renovations (Residential Accessible Design) Assists mobility-restricted homeowners with current-home renovations and modifications. It is important to us that clients are able to remain in their own homes, with their loved ones, for as long as possible. Our RAD team works with local contractors and designers who specialize in accessible housing modifications including things such as: wheelchair ramps & lifts, wider entrance ways, accessible bathrooms and more. Chinook House: Provides five accessible, independent living apartment units to support mobility-restricted individuals. The average duration of clients' stay is 18 years.
