Mission Statement

Arrabon House serves youth who are in need of safe shelter, emotional support and counselling to develop positive life skills. Our programs include one residential, therapeutic home for youth up to age 18 and a residence for transitional age youth up to 24 years of age. Arrabon also provides ongoing support to youth who have “aged out” or moved out of our homes through our aftercare support program. Many of our youth are survivors of abuse, trauma, mental illness, and addiction. Since 1973, we have provided hope to countless youth to break the cycle of abuse and empower them to live with dignity, strength and compassion within our community.

About This Cause

Arrabon provides youth with the necessary tools, knowledge and support to understand their lives and challenges. We work with them in planning for the future and encourage them to reach their goals, while respecting the uniqueness of each young woman and providing inclusive services. Arrabon's programs include: Arrabon House - a therapeutic group home which provides 24-hour support in a structured home-like environment for up to 7 women between the ages of 13 and 18 years of age. The youth that live at Arrabon attend school, are employed or are enrolled in a training program. Many of the youth that live at Arrabon House are survivors of abuse, trauma, mental illness, and addiction. Lanthier Place - supportive co-op housing for women between the ages of 16 and 24 offers transitional, independence-based living environment. Three co-op apartments with three bedrooms each allow residents to prepare for fully independent living, with the support of an on-site, live-in mentor. Hope for Youth - in partnership with Stepstones, to provide continued support and counseling to past Arrabon House or Lanthier Place residents. This programs helps youth find a safe place to live, secure a job, finish high school, apply for post-secondary education, get medial attention and mental healthcare. Youth who qualify for this program do not have support from their family or caregivers and often struggle with mental health, substance abuse and/or homelessness. Arrabon is a Greek word that signifies a promise of new things to come, of hope. The name is synonymous with the mission of our organization – we are dedicated to empowering young women who struggle with emotional and mental health issues to reach their full potential.
