About This Cause
All families have hopes and dreams for their children that they will have good friends, enjoy happiness and have a good life. For all children, especially those with extra support needs, our inclusive early learning and child care programs provide an optimal opportunity to achieve these goals and maximize their potential. We offer children an enriching experience which positively impacts lifelong learning, behavior, health and quality of life. The role of parents in children's care and upbringing remains of primary importance: the supportive relationship between staff and families is a key ingredient in the services we offer. Our early learning and care options are characterized by a curriculum based on children’s development needs and interests, trained teaching staff, specialized support services and leadership facilitating continuous program improvement. Our Community Preschool Education program provides inclusion opportunities throughout Edmonton region for children between 2.5 to 6 years of age. (Children must meet Alberta Education criteria for Program Unit Funding). Our staff of professionals develops an educational program individualized to meet child’s additional needs. Parent involvement in planning a decision making is welcome and encouraged. We also operate Edmonton Northwest Child Care Centre, Edmonton Northwest Out of School Care and Edmonton Northwest Preschool program. We believe that children’s programs should provide experiences that foster each child’s growth and development as a total human being. This implies attention to the enhancement of skills in all areas of development – social, physical, intellectual, creative and emotional. Programs endeavor to create an environment where friendships are facilitated; each child learns positive concepts of him/her and others and establishes wholesome patterns for feeling and behaving. Our vision is to empower families to build inclusive communities. . Our early learning programs work closely with familes and the community to provide services that empower familes. Activities include family oriented programming, parenting education, free tax clincs for low income familes, Festive Meal (a free meal and provison of donated clothing ), free movie night offered four times per year, and fun family gatherings such as barbeque in the park. Volunteers are welcomed and valued, both in setting the direction of the organization and through helping us provide community events and programs. The Board of Directors are volunteers who set the guiding vision for the organization. Other volunteers support needs in our child care programs, our community support activities and in events such as our Festive meal and fundraising endeavors.
