Mission Statement
The Japanese Community Volunteers Association's mission is to care and inspire through the provision of services and programs to Japanese Canadian seniors and other generations through volunteerism, community involvement and the celebration of Japanese culture. We have a community centre from which we can offer programs and services that help seniors and others lead more independent, healthy and enjoyable lives. The centre also serves as a base from which we operate several types of outreach services such as meals-on-wheels, visitation and outings for isolated individuals.
About This Cause
The Japaneses Community Volunteers Association, also known as Tonari Gumi, provides social service agency assistance to the Japanese Canadian community in the greater Vancouver area. Tonari Gumi works with other agencies and organizations to ensure that isolated and challenged Japanese Canadians in need can receive and have access to federal, provincial and municipal programs and services on an equal basis as other individuals within the community.
